With Emotional Magnetism, PERG presented its first exhibition dedicated entirely to photography. The show marked an expansion of the gallery’s programme into image-based practices, while remaining closely connected to the visual cultures that continue to shape PERG: street subculture, design, movement and the emotional pull of automotive worlds.

Karl Hab is an established photographer and trained aeronautical engineer whose work is shaped by constant travel. Moving between international fashion, street culture, aviation and design, he has developed a visual language grounded in instinct, speed and observation.

For more than fifteen years, Hab has documented the environments he moves through with an immediate and highly personal perspective. His images rarely feel staged. Instead, they emerge from proximity: a fleeting gesture, a passing car, an unexpected encounter or the atmosphere of a city in motion.

In Emotional Magnetism, these fragments came together as a portrait of attraction itself — to people, objects, machines and places. Hab’s photography traces the subtle forces that draw us towards certain images and moments, revealing how identity is often formed through the cultures we choose to inhabit.

The exhibition also reflected PERG’s ongoing interest in the dialogue between art and automotive culture. Rather than treating the car purely as an object, Hab’s work situates it within a broader field of fashion, architecture, mobility and street life.

The opening event was realised in collaboration with Type 7, whose editorial approach to automotive culture, travel and design closely echoed the spirit of the exhibition. Together, the partnership extended Emotional Magnetism beyond the gallery space, positioning photography as a connective medium between subculture, movement and contemporary visual culture.
